It’s working! So I was pretty skeptical but desperate when I bought this. I have an older cat who has a thing for scratching my carpets. She literally ruined my living room rug around the edges — pulled so many fibers out you can see the carpet base. I bought her a new scratching post and mat, both which she seems to love, and then took a risk and got a new carpet, fingers crossed. Nope! I woke up the next morning to find she had scratched the new carpet anyway. I searched for a solution and saw this product. I was desperate or honestly I wouldn’t have tried it. Just couldn’t see how spraying this would prevent scratching. Well it does!!! I only spray it along the edges, as that seems to be where she like to scratch most. And so far, knock on wood, she hasn’t scratched it again. I renew the spray every few days because I am so paranoid, but I imagine at some point I’ll calm down. Fortunately it doesn’t smell too bad. It’s not my favorite — smells a little like cloves to me — but its fine and it dissipates quickly. hallelujah!

Not only is my cat not deterred, but he seems to love it. Now instead of just scratching the s*** out of my door frames, he scratches the s*** out of my door frames while purring excessively. I am not amused. I am, however, amused by the fact that the warning label says “Do not spray directly on pet.”

We’ve tried everything to stop our cat from scratching our couch. Sticky strips don’t adhere to the fabric (and he soon learned how to pull them off anyway!) and I was concerned by the warnings and chemicals in other no-scratch sprays. This spray seems to discourage him from scratching, but does need to be reapplied frequently in order to be effective. Fortunately it smells great and doesn’t stain!

MY PERSUAN CAT IS SCRATHING BEAUTIFUL 3D WALLPAPER. I SPRAYED IT AND THE CAT WAS LICKING THE BOTTLE.

I think I heard both cats laugh at me when I finished putting the tape on the couch. There were more chuckles a few hours later when the ring leader figured out how to take it off. Then she demanded to be pet for about five seconds and walked off, tail swishing in the air.Human: 0Cats : 1

UPDATE AFTER 1 WEEK: our cat has not been able to scratch the chairs with the tape on. Although I have not witnessed him trying, I can see little punctures in tape so I know he’s tried. IOur cat had started clawing at both corners/sides of our chairs. I trimmed loose threads as close to material as I could get and then placed smartykat tape. It’s only been on one night and he hasn’t bothered with the chairs at all. There was just enough tape on the roll to cover the sides of the two chairs. It is definitely sticky enough to stay in place for a while, however I think it will end up being an expensive solution as the tape gathers dust/fibers and hair so quickly. So I’d be looking at using a roll of tape every week or two. I’ll update once it’s been on a while.

When a cat scratches, it leaves a chemical trace behind – so it will continue to come back to the same place. Cats also need to scratch to maintain their claws and paws. But it doesn’t have to be on the furniture. For fixing scratching on problem areas, my experience is that the sprays are hit or miss. The only thing that has ever worked for me is to put a scratching post near the problem area and to put this tape on the problem area. They will really quickly switch from the furniture to the scratching post. Sweetening the scratching post with a little cat nip is also helpful. This stuff CAN leave a sticky residue if you leave the same piece in the same place for too long. If you swap it out every few weeks, it doesn’t do that.

I have found that this spray does little to nothing to deter my cats from sitting or scratching on an area.I have tried it in two places so far: furniture in a high traffic area and furniture in a low traffic area. The high traffic area is the dining room, where the dining room chairs are fabric covered and the cats like to think it is their rock climbing gym. I sprayed this onto the chair backs, as I don’t care if they are sitting on the seat but I don’t want them climbing the backs. This did pretty much nothing to deter them from climbing, and within a half hour I found one of the cats sitting on the top of the back of the chair (which I had just sprayed). With the low traffic area, they don’t do much with that furniture anymore but I have still found them sleeping on the sprayed chairs.I didn’t have high hopes for this product, as I believe that cats will pretty much do whatever they want no matter what, but I was a little disappointed that it didn’t really seem to work much at all.

I’ve been using this product for about a week and seems to be helping so far. I recently bought a new sofa and my kitty loves it so much, she couldn’t stop clawing it.. Never did this to the old sofa.. This no scratch spray is pretty good if you use it everyday. It has a lemon sent to it but doesn’t seem bother us. I’m glad I made this purchase. It arrived on time and packaged well.

I have a real problem with my cat scratching my furniture. Nothing I’ve tried so far has stopped her: three different types of cat scratching devices (post, strip, curvy thing) and spraying her with water when she scratched also did not deter her. She is an indoor-outdoor creature, so de-clawing is not an option. This product is just okay. I sprayed it on all of the furniture, using what I thought was a lot. It must wear off, though, because she’s back at it. Now I spray her (paws mostly) with this product when she begins to scratch, and that seems to sort of work. She will run away when she’s sprayed and doesn’t seem to scratch as much on my sofa, but this product hasn’t prevented her from scratching.

About The Product

TRAIN YOUR CAT TO STAY AWAY FROM TREATED AREAS: Live in harmony and establish boundaries with your kitten or cat with Bodhi Dog 3-in-1 Cat & Kitten Training Aid with added bitters. Our cat repellent uses a scent your feline friend can’t stand but pleasant to the human senses. With consistent use of our cat training spray, your cat or kitten will associate which areas are off-limits, where a cat’s presence is not desired and deters scratching and chewing.

EFFECTIVE FOR INDOOR & OUTDOOR USE: Keep cats and kittens from sitting, jumping, chewing, scratching furniture, carpet, wood flooring, and drapes within the household. Make sure to reapply the Cat Repellent Spray on any area to keep it kitty free and scratch-free every 24 hours or until the habit is broken. Cats use their sense of smell to determine where they spend their time. Remember that the application rate depends on how severe the cat’s habits are and how often they visit the area.

ADDED BITTERS TO PREVENT CHEWING: No need to yell or swat when your feline friend is chewing on the plant! The added bitters in the formula do not scare or harm your cat, it just tastes awful to any surface applied on. Our Cat Spray can be safely and easily be used on fabrics, furniture, woodwork, walls, baseboards, blinds, rugs, plants, carpet, and many other things you don’t want your kitty to chew on! We stand behind the quality of our products.

LONG LASTING & SAFE FORMULA: Safe to use around plants and won’t stain water-safe furniture or fabrics. Our animal-cruelty free formula is a long-lasting blend of ingredients that will stop cats from scratching furniture and destroying your other precious items in your house. It is safe to use around other pets and children when used as directed. Our Cat Repellent Spray is intended as a training aid and deterrent, be sure to provide enticing scratchers and toys nearby.

I tried it on the couch and later the cat still jumped up on top of couch sit down

This stuff really works! I sprayed it generously on the stairs that my THREE cats constantly scratch as well as my toddlers wicker toy box they recently started on. It has been two days and they steer clear now!! I’ve tried several different brands and none work but this stuff seems to be the miracle cure and smells great too!! Highly recommended.

I was recommended by a friend to try this and I have to say Of all the products I have tried, this one has done the job.

My cat has been literally ripping up my stairs! I had tried so many sprays and the double sided tapes, the nail caps, etc. UGH! I figured here we go again…but this time I was wrong! Now, let me say that yes this stuff smells very strong when you spray it and for awhile afterwards – BUT it’s not a bad smell…mostly lemongrass and rosemary. But it is strong so those who can’t deal with it there is your warning. But if it works, then I think anybody can handle an herbal smell in their home! Oh and one last warning – don’t make the the same mistake I did…The first time I used this I really “power-sprayed” my stairs, which made the over-spray settle onto my forearms and hands. No big deal. UNTIL I decided to have a smoke a while later and got the shock of my life that could have been avoided by simply reading the bottle beforehand. But no…apparently I subconsciously wanted to taste this stuff for myself and sample what “bitters” is all about…YEP they added bitters as a deterrent to chewing as well! All I can do is confirm that yes, it is 150% bitter and then some! SO wash your hands after spraying lol! Seriously though, this stuff actually works so try it!

I opened my spray as soon as I received it and sprayed on my blinds. It’s a very pleasant fragrance. It did not stain my white blinds. Best of all, my cat, who loves to “floss” his teeth on the cord and thread on the blinds, doesn’t like the fragrance. Score!

So I waited to give this a review because I really wanted to give it a fair review. I got It to get my kitten to stopped chewing on my oxygen cord and detergent my cats from using the floor behind my tv as a litter box . It didn’t work now it could because I’m using a plastic cord that rubs all over the carpet possibility it’s rubbing off the product. So I decided to get a cord cover for my tubing. That didn’t work either my kitten chewed through it to. So by this time I have replaced my cords over 15 times , I’m getting pretty annoyed at the cat. So I decided I’d try soaking the cord cover in the solution and success ! I am now on day 4 and the little cute monster hasn’t chewed through the cord. I hope this keeps up. I’ll soak it at leaf once a week to keep the smell strong . I’ll update this as time goes by if she chews it again but so far it is working! Oh I will also add keep this far away from your face when spraying . It has a very strong scent that gets in the back of your throat and is very bitter. Wash your hands really well afterwards as well.

I tried it on the couch and later the cat still jumped up on top of couch sit down

This product really does seem to work for our two cats. They are seemingly repulsed by the spray, and the youngest runs away the minute the spray bottle is picked up to spray the couch. The other cat, while he rarely scratches now, HAS tried once or twice to put a claw in our new couch. I’ve been spraying this lightly, as directed, on the sides, back and corners of the couch for about 10 days now. I’m happy with the product as far as it keeping the cats away.HOWEVER…be careful, this stuff has a “soapy” compound in it (saponified coconut). It has left a coating on my couch that is slightly sticky or tacky! I’m not going to spray any more…the cats seem to be fairly used to not scratching, but I may turn to the tape product which I also purchased if I need to keep deterring the scratching. I think that it might be possible to make this type of product without saponified oils…maybe with JUST the rosemary, which provides the strong smell. I just don’t want a soapy coating on my brand new couch! I’m a bit disappointed! The photos show the slight discoloration where I sprayed my taupe/champagne colored couch. The side photo shows it best. The seat picture is to show what the couch looks like when it has NOT been sprayed. All-in-all…I take the blame for letting it get a bit discolored…this is a light colored sofa, and this product has a soapy compound in it. BE CAREFUL if you choose to use!

The effect of this product on my cat’s behavior was immediate. Thank goodness! I was at my wits end on what to try next. For the first time, I had adopted an older cat rather than a kitten, and all of my patented training techniques were not working. He was destroying my furniture, carpet, ate all my house plants, and owned the dining table. He did not care about “the bad kitty bottle,” no interest in cat nip, and not very food motivated. Double sticky tape would stop him in his tracks but never stopped him from trying and as soon as the tape fell off he was back into whatever.I sprayed this product in all his favorite scratching spots, immediately he left them alone. I sprayed it around edges of the dining table, he hasn’t been on it in 24 hours. He’s actually using the scratching posts/cat furniture I got him and strategically placed around the house. Plus, unexpected bonus, the dog has been giving the dining table a wide berth too.I’ll see how the fading procedure goes but so far this product is voodoo magic sent from behavioral heaven. 100% recommend.

Because I’m a sadist, I decided to buy a new-to-us couch two weeks after bringing home two kittens. Our previous couch had been all scratched up by our older cats, so I wanted this new couch to avoid that fate at all costs. With a disbelieving and disapproving husband tsk-ing me, I did some research and decided to couple this spray with big pieces of cat tape for the sides. Thank goodness for same-day shipping! I ordered everything the day I picked up the new couch, but there was a six-hour window where the kittens were yelling “thanks for the new scratching post, Mom!” Of course, because they are cats, they went straight for the couch and it took a lot of diligence to keep them from scratching.Six hours later, the Amazon box shows up and I immediately put the tape on the sides and spray this all over the arms and back of the couch. It has a pretty strong smell that I don’t love (but have gotten used to), but my husband walked in and asked “What smells so good?” For what it’s worth, his favorite smell is lemon grass, so this is better suited for people who love that smell. But who cares if it’s strong when it WORKS! It hasn’t stopped the cats from going on the couch (which is good because we like cuddles), but they haven’t scratched it in the last 5 days since we got the couch and tried this spray. I don’t think I needed to get the cat tape at all (they preferred scratching the arms anyway).I’m following the directions and sprayed 3-4 times a day the first few days, but now I’m just going morning and night. Hopefully they’ll just learn that the couch isn’t theirs and I can stop the routine quickly.

I have two 6 month old kittens that I need to keep on the second floor of my home. For the first few months, they were fine with just the gate by the stairs but then they discovered they could move the gate and it was all over! I was at my wits end, and decided to try this spray. I sprayed some on the floor, the gate and by the wall where they were escaping. It was amazing. They went over to the gate…smelled around and then walked away. The first time it happened I held my breath…but it kept happening and then they just stopped going over to the stairs all together! My sanity was saved!!! I don’t know how long this will last but right now…I am a happy customer!

Purchased to keep cats from scratching on new couches and so far it seems to be working. Was not prepared for how irritating the smell is to human noses. My family has to clear the room for 20-30 minutes after it is sprayed – almost feels like a pepper spray irritant. Probably would not but again because of this.

Doesn’t even phase my cat 😡

I tried it on the couch and later the cat still jumped up on top of couch sit down

Product Descrption

What you see as bad behavior such as destructive scratching or urine marking may actually be your cat acting out due to stress. Cats are creatures of habit so when something in their environment changes such as a recent move or even rearranging furniture, can cause them stress. Our Spray & Scratch Control Spray is vet recommended and clinically proven to reduce urine marking and to limit destructive scratching. Our spray mimics a cat’s calming pheromones that help cats feel calm and safe. When the pheromones are sprayed onto a vertical surface, it naturally signals to your cat that their environment is safe which helps reduce their stress and reduce their need to scratch or spray. Simply spray onto the object(s) or area on the walls that your cat likes to target. The Comfort Zone Spray dispenses a drug-free, unscented vapor that only affects the cats. The spray is a great travel option to spray in the car or kennel if your cat gets nervous on the road or on the table at the vet’s office to help keep them calm. It can be sprayed on fabrics, upholstery, hardwood, and doorframes.

So as a threshold issue, I cannot comment on the effectiveness of the product. I started using it and discovered that it leaves a film where it is sprayed. Not a good or easy to clean film- it is one that can damage wood floors and wood furniture (china cabinet/dining table). I sprayed it on a table leg and when my cat urinated on it the next day, the stain started coming off when I scrubbed the areas sprayed with the calming spray. It might be fine if you are using it on carpet or a couch- but be careful and definitely test it out before you spray. We also bought the collars… so we will see how they work out, but no more spray for us!

I’ve been spraying our new couch with this product daily, and the cats have shown no interest in clawing it. They have a couch in the basement that they ripped to shreds, and I was afraid they would do the same thing to our new one. So far the spray works. I am also using this product to reduce anxiety in one of our cats who has been marking territory in our new house (the cat is neutered). It works in combination with the calming collar and another calming spray by Nature’s Miracles also purchased here on Amazon.

My male kitty loves to scratch wicker furniture, chairs and hampers plus some furniture. Read about the Plug-ins but my experience and the other reviews were afraid of the plug in overheating and perhaps starting a fire sooo…..I thought I’d try the spray. It really works! He has stopped scratching the above items. I used the spray every day for about two weeks and now periodically. If he starts to scratch I grab the spray and he stops! I’ve bought several bottles to have on hand.

I tried it on the couch and later the cat still jumped up on top of couch sit down

The scent was pleasant, so much in fact my “scratcher” kitten liked it! Boo Boo kitty scratches at the curtains & walls. I followed application instructions, unfortunately, Boo Boo continues to scratch at both.. I do have an extra scratching post near the curtains hoping to change Boo’s scratching habits!

This came highly recommended by a friend, but it didn’t work with my little beast (cat) at all. I guess it depends on the individual animal.

I don’t think its working…. Cats are scratching right after I spray it. One even likes it so much that he licked it and rubbed himself in it before scratching the area!

I tried it on the couch and later the cat still jumped up on top of couch sit down

I had only used Feliway (recommended by vet), assuming Comfort Zone was a knock-off brand. Then I read a review that someone with multiple cats had no success with Feliway, but did see some results with Comfort Zone. The key is to spray it consistently. Every morning, I take a tour of the house, hitting all the hot spots my one boy likes to spray (he’s the weaker link, apt to be bullied) – and I also have Comfort Zone diffusers everywhere. This has worked tremendously to stall the spraying, which was quickly ruining every piece of furniture (we actually hauled several pieces into a spare room to dry/air out, because he was hitting them so consistently). I was sick a few weeks ago, didn’t make my Comfort Zone rounds for a few days – and he started spraying again… Believer here! A necessity when cats aren’t all organically copacetic.

What a home saver this stuff is! I have many, many cats and one male who is very naughty and sprays. This has TOTALLY stopped him from spraying the areas where I spray this. I so wish they sold it in a gallon jug so I could put it in a pressure sprayer and spray everything with it! I use it inside and out and it works for us. I’m on my second order since I use it regularly as instructed.

It seemed like just 2 sprays worked well. Made the vet trip less stressful on our cat.
